RPS in Scotland welcomes Minor Ailment Service report

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) in Scotland has welcomed the release of the Minor Ailment Service report published today by Community Pharmacy Scotland.

Alex MacKinnon, Director for Scotland, said: “We welcome the results from this report. It highlights the importance of this service to patients in Scotland and validates the important role pharmacists play in our NHS.”

“60% of respondents agreed that pharmacist access to patient records would enhance the care they were able to provide. RPS is clear that allowing pharmacist access to patient records would help to deliver the Scottish Government’s vision of providing greater access to care closer to people’s homes.

“With the majority of people, who took part in the research, rating the service they received as “Excellent”, we are confident that any extension of the Minor Ailment Service will be a success.”

“This will help to support the Government’s commitment to making community pharmacy the first point of access to care and advice for more people across Scotland.”
