PM questioned by PJ in COVID-19 briefing

The Pharmaceutical Journal asked Prime Minister Boris Johnson a question as part of his coronavirus press conference on Wednesday.

Nigel Praities, Executive Editor of the PJ, highlighted the vital role that pharmacists have played during the pandemic whilst questioning the PM on pharmacy funding and reimbursement for any additional costs.

In his response, Mr Johnson said that pharmacies are an “absolutely outstanding resource for our country” and that he didn’t want to see any pharmacies close.

He stated that he would be working to reimburse pharmacies for the additional costs they’ve faced “as soon as possible”.

The Prime Minister also recognised that pharmacies are and will continue to be a key part of the COVID-19 vaccination programme in delivering vaccines safely to patients across the country.
