Get involved in promoting pharmacy in the General Election

The upcoming General Election on 12 December offers you the opportunity to have your say and help make the voice of the profession heard.

Would you like to contact your local constituency candidates to highlight the value of pharmacy and ask them to show their support?

There are a number of ways in which you can get involved. You can help by sending candidates the RPS general election toolkit, asking them to show their support online, or inviting them to come and see local pharmacists working in person. If you want to get involved in social media conversations, look out for the #votepharmacy hashtag.

We’re also collaborating with other pharmacy organisations on a shared website to provide a range of materials pharmacists can use around the general election.

Sandra Gidley, President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, said:

“The NHS has never been far away from the headlines and the next Government must address key issues around patient safety, access to medicines, and how to support the health and care workforce in the face of growing pressures.

“While there has been a huge amount of preparation for a possible ‘no-deal’ Brexit, there is still no guarantee of where we will be 12 months from now, and what new relationship the UK will agree with Europe on key areas such as medicines, research and workforce.

‘’It has never been a more important time for the profession and it is crucial that all the main political parties back and support pharmacists and pharmacy services Failing to do so threatens our ability as health professionals to provide the best possible care for patients within the NHS’
