Volunteering to help during the COVID-19 pandemic

There have been fantastic offers of help from the profession in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pharmacy students, pre-registration pharmacists, retired pharmacists and colleagues working in industry and academia have all got in touch expressing a desire to help.

We’re working on what we can do to support this, and aligning to national plans to temporarily register retired and returning to practice pharmacists.

If you’re thinking of returning to work in a clinical role as a registered pharmacist have a look at some information and guides we’ve already got to bring you up to speed.

If you’re planning to help in a role which doesn’t require registration, this might mean helping deliver medicines to patients staying at home and self-isolating or supporting telephone enquiries to free up staff time. There will be other ideas too and we’re putting together some checklists and a framework to support this, watch this space!

The professionalism and altruism of the pharmacy profession is heart-warming and we thank you all.
