Pharmacists should have equal access to wellbeing support

Responding to the announcement from the Department of Health and Social Care to provide better mental health and wellbeing support to NHS staff,  Chair of the RPS in England Sandra Gidley said:

“NHS employees are under pressure like never before and it’s right that they get mental health and wellbeing support. We welcome the Government’s plans announced today to support the challenges faced by health professionals in their working lives, which can often impact on all aspects of their health.

“We will champion the right of all pharmacists, whether they are employed directly by the NHS or delivering NHS services, to be able to access this support.

“Pharmacists are the third largest health profession and stress in their places of work is increasing. All pharmacists should have equal access to mental health and wellbeing services alongside their professional colleagues.  We look forward to progressing this part of the workforce implementation plan in our discussions with government.”
